Two cultures braided into one soul
Meet Mari
I was raised between languages, between expectations. I’ve come to understand that being bicultural isn’t a conflict to solve; it’s a wisdom to hold. My ability to move between cultures with empathy has become one of my greatest strengths in therapy. Whether you’re navigating identity, immigration, generational tension, or simply trying to belong, I know how complex that journey is.
I was raised Catholic, so faith was always there. My views are progressive and inclusive, and I carry forward the parts of my faith that shaped me: dignity, compassion, and care for the most vulnerable. My work is rooted in values, not judgment.
I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I work with teens and adults in English and Spanish diagnosed with anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, and complex trauma, as well as those often described as the “worried-well,” people who may not have a diagnosis but are navigating a difficult time in life. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and practical.
I believe in creating space for immigrants, for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, for people impacted by incarceration, and for those living with disabilities. And I believe in progress: political, scientific, educational, and cultural. Because care without change isn’t enough.
My Perspective
I view the world through a justice lens, aware of systems, patterns, and whose voices are missing. I’m committed to learning, unlearning, and staying open to growth. I pay attention to my biases and do the work to make sure they don’t shape how I show up for others.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles, and I was trained to provide therapy in both English and Spanish through the Enlaces program. I work with teens and adults across California virtually, and in person in Hermosa Beach, under the supervision of Dr. Vanessa Isetta, Psy.D.
